Program Description:

The Pandemic Support Worker is responsible for assisting Gwekwaadziwin in the implementation of requirements related to Covid 19 and the associated strains; in alignment with additional Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (OCMOH) and public health recommendations for congregate care settings and community-based programming.

This is a fulltime contract position until March 31, 2022, with possibility of continuation based upon funding proposals.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Implementation of screening and screening protocols for Covid-19 for staff and participants
• Maintaining and ordering personal protective equipment for Covid-19 as well as facility requirements e.g. HEPA air filters
• Assist in the coordination in vaccination efforts
• Develop and maintain medication and administration records for clients
• Coordinate with pharmacy for medication for clientele and prepare it for the operations of the program
• Other program duties as required
• Assistance with development of policies to adapt to the ongoing needs related to the pandemic

Qualifications:

• Minimum requirement is a combination of bachelor’s degree in relevant healthcare field and experience in mental health and addictions programming
• Understanding of the provincial scope of First Nations mental health and addictions programming and challenges
• Preference given to an Individual of Anishinaabe ancestry with knowledge and understanding of Anishinaabek history, clan systems, protocols, etiquette, cultures, and traditions.
• Demonstrated professional level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects
• Mature individual who can work independently with preference given to individuals living a traditional lifestyle and being on a life-long journey in traditional knowledge

Requirements:

• Possesses a valid Ontario class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing with access to a reliable vehicle, able to obtain an ‘F’ class Driver’s license with a preference given to those who already hold a class ‘F’ driver’s license • Ability to work outside normal business hours as required • Preference for a designation with a regulatory college
